Thomas Ambrose Bowen

Thomas Ambrose Bowen of Geelong Australia first began developing this Technique in the 1950's as a way to alleviate pain. It became known as Bowtech--The Bowen Technique in 1986 and has been taught in many counties worldwide.

Bowen Therapy is a very gentle, holistic, hands on therapy that re-sets the body to heal itself. During your treatment, gentle moves are made over muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments in specific location on the body. An overall feeling of well being, deep relaxation, and increased mobility is often felt after a Bowen treatment.

The pressure of these moves is very soft, yet, the results are extremely powerful. In-between the moves there are crucial rest periods usually of a few minutes, where the individual is left alone. These pauses allow the body time to integrate the specific signals without overwhelming the nervous system.

Instead of focusing on one problem, Bowen therapy addresses the whole body, and restores balance throughout the nervous system. When the body is in a state of relaxation and rest it feels safe, and it can then start to repair and heal itself. This is what Bowen therapy is able to do, to shift our everyday state of 'fight or flight' to one of 'rest and repair' and that's when all the magic happens.

Those that have experienced Bowen therapy are already telling everyone they know.
